A rare 1950’s glass Opaline Ellipse ceiling light Designed by Paul Boissevain for the Merchant Adventurers, UK. In fantastic, vintage condition, re-wired and fully working.
With a chrome down stem, ceiling rose and gallery, with a milk glass shade. The ceiling rose is inscribed with ‘Merchant Adventures Ltd.
This is part of the ‘ELLIPSE’ range designed by Paul Boissevain for which he was awarded the CoID (Council of Industrial Design) in 1959. Examples of part of the design collection are held at the Victoria & Albert Museum storage facility as examples of historical significance.
The milk glass shade is in excellent condition and measures:
